The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2023 Acura ZDX an excellent five stars for its overall score and side impact testing. The ZDX also earned four stars in the frontal crash and rollover tests. The ZDX debuted at the 2009 New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009. The Acura ZDX is just a mid-size luxury crossover SUV manufactured by Honda because of its upmarket brand Acura. The automobile was also the first to be completely designed at Acura ZDX 2023's southern California design studio in Torrance. The automobile was originally scheduled to be called the Acura MSX.



There are two major option packages for the 2023 Acura ZDX. The Advance package also includes electronically adjustable suspension dampers, a blind spot warning system, adaptive cruise control, heated and ventilated front seats, and a sports steering wheel. The technology suite adds keyless start and entry, a navigation system with real-time traffic and weather, a multi-view backup camera, and an upgraded Acura/ELS surround sound stereo system with a built-in 15-gigabyte hard drive.

The control layout shares elements with other Acura products, notably the MDX, nevertheless the fade-to-black Monolith center stack is unique, as could be the sumptuous hand-stitched leather trim on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Five teaser shots, released by Acura between March 16 and 20, 2009, indicated a coupe-like sloping roofline akin to that of the BMW X6, which led many observers to think that's its direct competitor. Following the announcement about naming the car ZDX, Acura added what "Luxury Four-Door Sports Coupe" to the caption for every picture. Moreover, it didn't state the automobile as a crossover or an SUV.

The announced version includes the 3,664 cc (3.664 L; 223.6 cu in) SOHC VTEC V6 all-aluminum engine rated 300 bhp (220 kW) at 6300 rpm and 270 lb-ft (366 Nm) at 4500 rpm, 6-speed automatic transmission, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with moveable sunshades, hand-stitched leather interior, HandsFreeLink Bluetooth connectivity, 2023 Acura ZDX power tailgate, and a high-powered audio system with CD player, AM/FM/XM Satellite Radio and USB audio interface with iPod integration. Sales began in winter 2009.
